Periscope app of twitter get 1 million users in just 10 days

Twitter confirmed early success of its Periscope app on Tuesday with news that it racked up more than 1 million users just 10 days after launch.
The company said during an earnings call with investors that its live broadcast app — which was acquired by Twitter in March — is off to a strong start, with more than 1 million logging on to give it a try. Periscope launched just a few weeks after Meerkat, a similar service, gained significant buzz online.
The effort is a part of a larger initiative to grow through new channels, thanks to product launches and acquisitions around group direct messaging, native video sharing and of course, live streaming.
But that doesn't mean Twitter's earnings day went on without a hitch. Ahead of the call, news leaked that Twitter's latest quarter results were mixed and shares dropped 6%. The company cited "growing pains" as a reason for its less-than-expected earnings results.
Although Periscope is still in its infancy, it had a big first month — even beyond user growth. The app rolled out to both iOS and Android users, became a hit among celebrities, developed a softcore problem and was officially banned by the NHL.
